On December 20, 2018, a large European cable company visited SISE to review the European-standard IEC 62196 series charging connectors. The general manager and technical director of DEKA toured the machining workshop, assembly workshop and laboratories.

Visit and cooperation discussions

The visitors expressed strong agreement with the long-term use of SISE jacks and spring contact jacks in the high-end overseas market. The two sides exchanged views on the direction and content of their cooperation for 2019, including promoting the European-standard charging connector together.

Spring finger technology

SISE's canted coil spring, also called a spring finger, finger spring or contact spring, can transmit strong current in a small space and can also be used as a purely mechanical connection. It works in static and dynamic medium- and high-voltage environments. The compact size and number of independent coil turns suit a variety of electrical contact designs, and each coil compensates independently for contact and surface variation, which permits wider tolerances between mating parts.

Advantages and applications

Multiple contact points raise conductivity while operating temperature stays low, extending service life. The contacts are used for power connections in medical electronics and devices, aerospace and defense, energy and automotive applications. Their advantages are a simple, compact, low-cost structure; multi-point, near-lossless contact with high current capacity; modest per-point contact pressure with good wear resistance; and a wide working range with good tolerance of machining and assembly error. Typical applications include medium- and high-voltage switchgear, busbar connectors, high-current connectors, solid insulated poles, high-voltage end fittings, fuse connectors and mechatronic systems.
