Description
The leaf spring jack is a silver-plated female socket terminal with internal canted coil spring contacts, and the photograph shows the single terminal body in the form it would be specified for a discrete, board- or cable-mounted joint. The bore follows the single-leaf rotary hyperboloid layout: elastic wires run along one leaf, each angled to the inner sleeve, so the contact zone is defined by the length of that leaf rather than by a separate spring assembly.
Leaf-Line Contact
When the mating pin is inserted, the leaf wires deflect in both the radial and axial directions and wrap the pin in a multi-line contact, so one pin-and-socket pair carries current over several independent paths in parallel. Even a broken individual wire leaves an effective path, and the distributed grip keeps voltage drop low while supporting up to 100,000 cycles of plug life. Bores span 1.5–30 mm with other sizes customizable, and contact plating can be specified in gold or silver per requirement; the family carries high contact power density with low insertion and extraction forces and high vibration and shock resistance. Combined with easy installation and replacement, the leaf-line grip also keeps temperature rise low at high power, so the terminal holds up in sustained-duty positions.
Typical Applications
This socket terminal is linked to medical, telecom, electric vehicle, aerospace and high-speed rail applications, where the repeatability of the leaf-line contact matters most for long service life and stable mating force across thousands of cycles. For medical and telecom builds the single-body terminal is simple to specify, and the bore can be customized outside the standard 1.5–30 mm range to suit the mating pin.
