Description

The spring jack is a silver-plated female socket whose bore is lined with several independent elastic wires laid along the straight generatrix of a single-leaf rotary hyperboloid, each set at an angle to the inner sleeve. The production photograph shows the part as silver-plated sockets carrying internal canted coil spring contacts inside outer grooved barrels — a body shape that gives the housing a clean press-fit purchase while the compliant wire bundle does the electrical work. A second image shows a small cluster of these sockets, reflecting how the family is typically ordered as multi-contact arrays rather than single cavities.

Construction

Bores are available from 1.5–30 mm with other sizes customizable, and the contact wires can be plated gold or silver per requirement. When a pin enters, the wires deflect in both the radial and axial directions and grip the pin at several independent points at once, so a single pin-and-jack pair behaves like several ordinary contact pairs used in parallel. That multi-wire redundancy is what keeps a single broken wire from taking the circuit down — the bore still forms an effective current path — and it underpins the family's high contact power density, easy installation and replacement, and low temperature rise at high power.

Typical Applications

This jack is linked to medical, telecom, electric vehicle, aerospace, high-speed rail and satellite systems, where buyers trade on low insertion and extraction forces, low voltage drop, up to 100,000 cycles of mating life, and high vibration and shock resistance. For satellite and rail duty in particular, the redundant multi-wire path is the reliability argument the design is built around, and bore sizes outside the standard 1.5–30 mm range can be built to order.
