Description

The claw spring socket is a board-level part, and the photograph shows it as silver-plated PCB mount connector blocks with integrated canted coil spring contacts and solder pins. Rather than a loose body, this variant is a connector block that mounts directly to the printed circuit board, with the spring contact built into the block and the solder pins taking the connection to the trace below. Because the contact and the solder pins are integrated into a single block, the part places as one component during board assembly rather than several.

Board-Level Mounting

The block carries the single-leaf rotary hyperboloid contact, whose multiple independent wires grip an inserted pin along the bore from 1.5–30 mm (other sizes customizable). The solder pins give a stable mechanical and electrical anchor, so the joint holds its alignment through repeated mate and unmate cycles, and the multi-wire grip keeps the connection live even if one wire breaks. Contact plating can be gold or silver per requirement, with the family offering high contact power density, low insertion and extraction forces, low voltage drop and high vibration and shock resistance for up to 100,000 cycles.

Typical Applications

This claw spring socket is linked to medical, telecom, electric vehicle, aerospace and high-speed rail systems, where PCB-mount construction simplifies automated assembly and the redundant wire contact protects signal integrity through the life of the board. The redundant multi-wire path also keeps continuity across temperature cycling and vibration, which is why the block is specified on boards destined for rail and aerospace.
