Description
The precision spring jack is a machined cylindrical metal socket, and the photograph shows the distinguishing features clearly: an external canted coil spring ring wrapped around the body and a retention flange that locks the socket axially in its housing. The external ring carries the retention duty, leaving the bore free to be the clean hyperboloid contact zone. The retention flange holds the socket at a fixed depth in the housing, so the bore position does not shift under repeated mating force or vibration.
Retention-Flange Construction
Inside the bore, elastic wires are arranged along the straight generatrix of the single-leaf rotary hyperboloid, each angled to the inner sleeve. On insertion the pin deflects those wires radially and axially, bringing several independent contacts into play at once and forming multiple parallel current paths that survive the break of a single wire. Bores range from 1.5–30 mm with other sizes customizable, and plating can be specified in gold or silver per requirement; the family offers high contact power density, low insertion and extraction forces, low voltage drop and high vibration and shock resistance over up to 100,000 cycles.
Typical Applications
Linked to medical, telecom, electric vehicle, aerospace and high-speed rail systems, this jack is chosen where the flange holds position under vibration and the machined bore keeps mating force consistent for the life of the joint. For medical and telecom duty the machined body keeps dimensional repeatability across production lots, and custom bore sizes beyond the standard 1.5–30 mm range can be machined to order.
