What is a wire spring jack?

A wire spring jack, also called a hyperboloid wire spring jack, is a highly reliable pin socket assembly used as the contact element of an electrical connector. It is made with a special assembly process: a number of highly elastic beryllium copper wires are wound tightly and diagonally along the inner wall of the jack, each wire forming a specific angle with the wall. Together the wires take on a hyperbolic profile inside the jack.

How the wire spring jack works

When a pin is inserted, the wires deflect over a wide area to lie close against the outer surface of the pin, creating multi-wire contact between the wires and the pin. This structure gives low contact resistance, low heat generation, a reliable connection and a soft insertion feel. It also resists vibration and shock well, supports a high number of mating cycles and provides a long service life; in high-vibration, shock-loaded applications the momentary contact interruption stays below 1 µs. These advantages have been fully verified across many application fields.

Its facilities include a CNC lathe workshop, a spring-finger workshop, an assembly workshop and a laboratory. To meet the connector industry's growing demand for high-current connectors, the company developed a bidirectional coil spring contact finger (SiS) and a single-turn spring contact finger, which form multiple columnar contact points (up to 300). These parts meet a service life of more than 100,000 mating cycles, with current density and temperature rise close to those of the transmission cable and an insertion force of about 10 N.
