Canted Coil Spring Sockets and Contact Rings

A bow spring finger, also called a canted coil spring, can transmit strong current in a small space and can also be used as a purely mechanical connection. There are no restrictions on how it is used; it suits static and dynamic connections in medium- and high-voltage environments.

Operating characteristics

The size of the spring and the number of independent coil turns make it suitable for a wide variety of electrical contact designs, and it delivers the best current-carrying capacity for electrical or EMI shielding when a large contact point is required. Each coil compensates independently for contact and surface variation, which permits wider tolerances between mating parts.

Multiple contact points increase conductivity while operating temperature stays relatively low, so the contact has a longer service life.
