Description
The Torsion Spring Jack is a single-leaf rotary hyperboloid wire spring jack, realized here as a custom dual socket connector terminal with an integrated wire crimp barrel. Two independent socket positions share one silver-plated terminal body; each socket carries elastic gold- or silver-plated contact wires arranged at an included angle to the inner sleeve, so that when a pin is inserted the wires deform in both the radial and axial directions and the pin meets several spring wires simultaneously.
That simultaneous contact creates several independent current paths, so even if one spring wire in the jack breaks the remaining wires still form an effective current path. With the wires wrapping tightly around the inserted pin, a single pin-and-hole pair behaves like several ordinary contacts connected in parallel. Because the crimp barrel is integrated, the terminal terminates straight to the wire, removing a separate wiring operation from assembly, and the multi-line grip keeps voltage drop low across repeated cycles.
Performance and Available Sizes
Contact is multi-line with a high contact power density; insertion and extraction forces stay low and plug life reaches up to 100,000 cycles. The torsion spring family covers 1.0–18.0 mm sizes, with working currents up to 700 A and contact resistance as low as 0.1 mΩ; bore range is 1.5–30 mm. The design tolerates high vibration and shock loading, and the wire contacts are simple to install and replace. This dual-socket variant is linked to medical, telecom, electric vehicle, aerospace and high-speed rail applications. The multi-line contact also delivers high power capability with low temperature rise, so the dual socket holds up in continuous-duty circuits.
